The Ringboulevard counts among the biggest town planning achievements of the 19th century. At its outset a decree was issued by emperor Frances Joseph I dating from December 1857: the unification of the city centre with the (in the year 1850) incorporated outer districts should come to pass after the demolision of the old fortifications. On the vacant area a magnificent boulevard lined with stately buildings should be erected. Inaugurated on May 1st 1865 by the emperor himself, the Ring (how the Viennese nickname it) with its 57 metres width and more than 4 km length belongs today to the biggest and most beautiful boulevards in the world.

Our tour will lead us to the St Stephen‘s Cathedral in the city centre (including a short guided tour) and further on foot to the streets Graben and Kohlmarkt, which are steeped in history.

Duration: ca. 2 hours.
Bus and admission fees are not included.
