For appr. 300 days a year, the best singers, conductors, musicians and dancers perform some 70 different works, making it the busiest opera house anywhere. Its repertoire is vast, ranging from oldest to the most recent operas.

The Vienna State Opera can also claim to having the finest opera orchestra in the world, which is principally made up of members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.

One of the best ways to see and learn about the opera house is to take a guided tour. Included on this tour are the Entrance Foyer, Main Staircase, Tea Room, Marble Room, Schwind Foyer, Gustav Mahler Room, and the Auditorium with a view of the stage.

Due to the busy goings-on in the Opera House guided tours are only possible on certain days and times, which will be announced appr. 2 months in advance.
